Okonomi-yaki is a kind of pancake which contains eggs, vegetables, seafood, or meat. 

It is cooked on a hot plate set on a table. 

Various tastes of Okonomiyaki can be enjoyed according to the ingredients.

y Ingredients ( 4 servings ) z

  1. 1 cup of Okonomi-yaki-ko(flour),  4 eggs, 10 cabbage leaves,  100g of sliced bacon–,

    150g of prawn–,  1 cup of water

  2. Okonomi-yaki sauce, Aonori(dried seaweed flakes), Katsuo-bushi(dried bonito fish flakes),       Beni Shoga(red pickled ginger),  mayonnaise

  1. Cut cabbage leaves in slivers and bacon into 3 cm lengths. Put them into a bowl with other ingredients of A. Mix well with chopsticks until it becomes a thick smooth of batter.

  2. Heat a small amount of salad oil on a hot plate or a frying pan. Pour the batter on it and spread into your favorite size. Cook the both sides.

  3. Brush the Okonomi-yaki with the sauce, and sprinkle Aonori, Katsuo-bushi and Beni-shoga.

  4. Optionally mayonnaise can be dabbed on it.

  5. Extra ingredients: squid, shellfish, other vegetables  and meat can be interchanged or added.

  6. Flour and sauce for Okonomi-yaki are sold at supermarkets.
