A drama: Ozu Yasujiro’s first color film product. The movie depicts a father opposed and indignant at his daughter’s engagement without father’s approval. However, on being asked by the daughter of his acquaintance his way of thinking about marriage based on free will of the loving partners, he gradually but contradictorily consents his own daughter’s case.
Directed by Ozu Yasujiro, and starring such well-known actors and actresses as Saburi Shin, Tanaka Kinuyo, Arima Ineko, Kuwano Miyuki, Yamamoto Fujiko, Ryu Chishu, etc.
