These days a lot of different types of ready-prepared sauce are available at the stores. The professional taste can be had easily at home. Let's try Yakitori (Grilled Chicken) using the Yakitori sauce@sold at supermarkets. 

Ingredients (4 servings):

Chicken thigh 500g
Shishito (small green peppers) 16
Long onions 2
Tare (sauce) for Yakitori 100ml

Directions:

  1. Cut the chicken into bite-size pieces.

  2. Steam the chicken for 5 minutes. (half-cooked)

    • Steaming in advance saves the time to grill and  to get  rid  of too much fat.

  3. Cut the long onions into about 3cm long.

  4. Arrange the chicken and the onions or the chicken and the peppers alternatively on  bamboo skewers.

  5. Brush the chicken with the sauce and grill. Repeat this a few times.

Note

  1. Chicken liver can be used as well.

  2. Yakitori with salt instead of sauce tastes beautiful.

Funabashi City was awarded " Odense City Hans Christian Andersen Prize 2000 " for achievement in permeating deeply the heart and thought of H. C. Andersen into the citizens' heart, through building of the H.C.Andersen Park and other activities.

The prize was founded by Odense City ( one of the sister cities of Funabashi ), which is the birth place of world famous H.C.Andersen, to celebrate the 2nd Millennium.

On April 2nd, Her Majesty Queen Margarethe ‡U of the Kingdom of Denmark handed over the letter of commendation and a miniature bronze statue to Mayor Fujishiro of Funabashi City
