2014 hits the animal indication of “Uma” (Horse). According to the old
lunar calendar that was brought to Japan from China in mid 6th century,
the classification system of “Junishi” (Chinese zodiac) was applied to
every historical year that is represented by 12 kinds of animals individually.
2014 corresponds to the seventh turn animal of “Horse”. The fixed order
of animals consists of Rat, Cattle, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse,
Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Boar. According to the recent indication,
1990(Heisei 02) was the “Horse year”, thereafter every 12 years later,
2002 was and 2014 will be the “Horse year”.
Persons born in the Horse year are said to show the bright existence, passionate
character, intuitive capability and active behavior. Japanese often
ask others, “What animal year were you born in? “ Then, the reply
will be “Horse year” for instance. The animal shape of the New Year
is also printed in “Nengajo”, the greeting card for a new year.
