To keep a Pet Dog

If you keep a dog, its registration at Kankyo Eisei-ka (the Environmental Sanitation Section 047-436-2404) of the City Office and yearly rabies vaccination are required by law.

Once registered by paying onetime fee of 3000 yen, good for the life of the dog, a notice for vaccination with questionnaires will be sent every March from the City Office. Your dog can get the vaccination at your nearby designated place (over 40 places to choose from) for 3350 yen including yearly certification plate fee.

Classes for dog owners on how to train pet dogs (fees required) are held from time to time by specialists of Dobutsu Aigo Shido Center (Animal Protection And Guidance Center 047-435-3916). It may be a good idea to attend it.

When you go walk the dog, keep him leashed. Also do not forget to carry plastic bags with you to clean up after your dog. This custom is well observed in Japan, contributing to its clean urban area.

If you are compelled to give up keeping your dog for returning home country or other reason, consult Dobutsu Aigo Shido Center (Animal Protection and Guidance Center). And in case your dog is dead, call Kankyo Eisei-ka (the Environmental Sanitation Sectionon its remains.
