Japanese Expressions
How to avoid problems No.1
@@gBe quiet!h

@

There are some Japanese words you ought to understand in order to avoid conflicts with other people.

These are inappropriate words, and are seldom used, but when spoken, be aware of your surroundings.

Has anyone told you gDamareh or gUrusaih before? These are rude words for ePlease be quiet.

h That person must have been extremely angry, because you were unknowingly talking too loudly (whether it was with your family, fellow countrymen, etc.) on public transportation.

If someone tells you these words, it would be wise to stop talking or lower your voice, and if possible, leave the scene immediately to avoid further problems.

Moreover, talking on cell phones are not permitted on trains. In Japan, it is part of the culture not to converse in loud voices in public.

If someone tells you gDamareh or gUrusaih, you should curtail your conversation.

Whenever you are hosting a party in the evening, keep in mind that it could be quite loud to neighboring people.

Houses in Japan are close together, so when it gets past 8pm, lower your voices, and by 10, you should wrap up the party.
