Japanese Cooking`Grilled vegetable Ohitashi `

@

Ohitashi, a kind of side dishes, is easy to cook and the light taste is loved in hot summer.  The following recipes are two kinds of vegetable Ohitashi .

 

Grilled Asparagus Ohitashi

ƒ Ingredients ( 4 servings ) and directions „

A:  8 green asparagus, 5g Katsuobushii dried bonito flakesjD

B:  1/2 tps. Dashi-no- moto (Japanese powdered stock), 3 tbsp. hot water, 1 tbsp. soy sauce

(1)   Cut off the woody stem of each asparagus. Place asparagus on a grid and grill.

Cut them into 3.

(2)   Mix the ingredients of B to make soy sauce stock.

(3)   Arrange the asparagus on a dish, pour the soy sauce stock of (2) over and put the Katsuobushi on top.

 

Grilled egg plant Ohitashi

ƒ Ingredients (4 servings ) and directions „

A:  6 eggplants, 5g Katsuobushi( dried bonito flakes)

B:  3 tbsp. soy sauce, 1 tbsp. Mirin, 1 tbsp. Sake, 1 tbsp. grated ginger

(1)   Place the eggplants on a grid and grill them over high heat. When they become soft to the touch, peel while still hot. Cut off the stem and slit the eggplants into 4~5 strips.

(2)   Mix the ingredients of B to make sauce.

(3)   Place the eggplant on each serving dish and pour the sauce of (2) over and put the Katsuobushi on top.
