Debbie-san’s Question Box

Local News Update

Kairaban (Local News Board) is to provide news, information and advice to the people of your immediate residential area: that is, the nearest dozen or so houses. When you finish reading the board, stamp your hanko or sign your name and pass it to the person in the next door. Regarding the contents, here are some examples.

・  How to separate garbage

・  News from the near-by community center and neighborhood association

・  Advice from the Police station

For example: When you go out, make sure to get your place locked tight. Do not walk lone late at night. Ask for help at a nearby Kōban when approached by suspicious-looking persons or cars.

・  News of road works

・  Recruitment of patrol volunteers

The board Urgent must be passed immediately after reading. When you receive the board and do not understand the contents, you are encouraged to ask your neighbors.  It will be a good chance to make friends with them.
