My Experience with Japanese Habits

“Greeting”

When people say Sorry or Excuse in Japan, sometimes it may have nothing to do with apologizing. It is just a kind of greetings for dealing with some troubled situations smoothly. For example, when two bicycles clash on the road suddenly, generally, both of them will say “Sorry” and forgive each other as soon as possible, and quickly finish the case.

The phenomenon stands for a kind of ambiguous culture. I think it is a very superior civilization. It decreases the percentage of social problems. For the same situation in China, one mostly tries to blame the other for the accident. Possibly a trouble may start and the little trouble will grow into a big one. Because Chinese communication belongs to “Direct Communication”, people will apologize just for their own fault. That is a very concrete perception for the communication style.

I would like to say, it doesn’t need a serious attitude in all situations, giving way to each other sometimes is a very happy thing. Don’t you think so?

“Queue”

In Japan, keeping line is a very common thing everywhere, and people wait in a queue consciously. Well-ordered phenomenon always keeps efficiencyand it is very important in the modern society.

I admit now, in the metropolis in China, people gradually keep line in various situations, but in the other areas, people don’t understand the manner, and they don’t get accustomed to stand in a queue, and then cause a lot of social problems.
