In Japan, we visit shrines or temples for
the happiness and safety of the year as a custom of New
Year. We call this “Hatsumode”.
In Chiba Prefecture, “Naritasan Shinshoji”
in Narita City is famous and from January 1 to 3 in 2007
2.9 million people went there for “Hatsumode”.
In this temple there are a lot of
precious structures, including “Hondo” (the main
structure) with a peculiar big “shimenawa” (sacred
shinto straw festoon). And “Naritasan Koen” (park) is
situated in the other side “Dai-hondo” (the big main
structure). In addition, you can enjoy visiting a lot of
souvenir shops and restaurants of Japanese or foreign
dish on the road of around 1km from Narita Station of
Keisei Line or JR since there is an international
airport in Narita.
