Where is itH

It is a city in the central Funen Island in between Jutalnd Peninsula, which  occupies major part of Denmark, and Sjaelland Island where Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark is situated.

The city is the capital of Funen Area.

It is also the major harbor city of Funen Island leading to Store Strait through Odense Fjord@@

What sort of City is itH

The City name Odense stems from the fact that German Emperor Otto III mentioned the name in his letter dated March 18, 988. Now this day is deemed as the birth day of Odense City.

As you can see Odense has its history of more than a thousand years now. But the real foundation of the town dates back to the Viking era, i.e. older than that.

@

Odense is the country's third-largest city. Odense is not characterized by high-rise buildings. Typical of the city is its exciting blend of high and low-rise buildings.

After all the one who made Odense known in the world is Hans Christian Andersen, world famous writer of fairy-tales. Andersen was born in Odense in 1805 in a family of a small shoemaker. "Yes, Funen is a garden fine for all of realm of Denmark..." So he wrote about his home Island.

As the City is situated in the center of Denmarak, so to speak, it plays a roll of traffic hub of Denmark. As a result commerce and transportation industry has developed. Machinery, metal goods, automobiles, glassware, processed food and fibers are also being produced actively.
