Friendship/Interchange Projects

We plan and implement projects for friendship/interchange with sister cities, Hayward and Odense and with friendship city Xi'an which invite citizens' participation.

We subsidize interchanges and support interchange activities by private organizations.

We also have interchanges with friendship mission from those other than sister/friendship cities and other domestic friendship/interchange organizations.

We send 3 students every year to California State University of Hayward.

‹L†

Aiming at strengthening friendship with sister city Hayward and rearing persons with international awareness, we have founded the system with cooperation of Sister City Committee of Hayward.

The selected students perform interchange activities like introduction of Japanese culture as well as one year study in the University.

Basic Japanese Classes

‹L†

We hold Japanese classes for foreign residents to acquire basic Japanese required for daily living.

‹L†

The classes are held once a week in Chuo-, Miyamoto-, Yakuendai-, Futawa- and Katsushika-Kominkan and Women's Center.

The advisers are members of Funabashi International Friendship Volunteers.
Each class takes small group learning method based on the learners Japanese ability.
The classes provide an opportunity for exposure to different cultures as well.

Foreign Resident Assistance Service

We open consultation/assistance window for solving troubles and problems in daily life of foreign residents.

Every Monday and Friday the service is available in 202 Meeting Room of Municipal Office

‹L†

English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish and Portuguese consultation are acceptable.

The advisers are members of Funabashi International Friendship Volunteers.

International Exchange Gathering

We hold the gathering every year as an opportunity for interchange between foreigners and Funabashi citizens. 

It is a big event acquiring participation of foreigners from 10 and several countries and lots of Funabashi citizens.

City, Chamber of Commerce, Corporate/Group FIRA members and International Friendship Volunteers as well support the gathering.

Lecture Meeting/Training Course

We hold lecture meetings/training courses on international friendship/interchange, volunteer activities and Japanese teaching etc. taking opportune timing.

Issue of Newsletter "'Yokoso' to Funabashi"

We issue a Newsletter on living information written in Japanese, English and Chinese 4 times a year.

Both editing and  publication are done by volunteers for International Friendship.

We focus on presenting Japanese culture, customs, traditional events, cooking and other living information/guide.
